Japanese Garden and Teahouse

A tea room built in traditional Japanese architectural style. The Japanese garden, which changes with the seasons, provides a calming atmosphere that offers a serene escape in the middle of the busy city.

The teahouse is modeled on the Chogetsuan teahouse established by Mitsubishi’s 2nd president Yanosuke Iwasaki and his heir and 4th president Koyata Iwasaki in their Seikado Bunko museum in Setagaya, Tokyo. Chogetsuan was run by Koyata, who took the name from a line in a poem by the Zen master Hata Esho written when he was the chief priest of Eiheiji Temple. This teahouse took the name Kohuntei, which is also related to the poem.
